Baptist Seminary of Kentucky (BSK) is in the process of meeting the requirement for the associate Membership with the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), the primary accrediting body for seminaries in the United States and Canada.  After this is achieved, BSK will begin the process of pursuing candidacy status and then Membership with ATS. Although new, free-standing institutions cannot achieve accreditation initially, BSK has been following the Standards of ATS from its inception. In terms of classroom experiences, BSK is offering quality graduate level education with faculty who hold the appropriate degrees and who teach in their areas of expertise. With the use of the library at Lexington Theological Seminary, students and faculty have access to excellent resources for study. What about the future of students after graduation while the Seminary moves toward accreditation? Students completing the Master of Divinity degree at BSK will receive help in finding placement through the extensive contacts the Seminary has in our region and beyond. Also, students may pursue additional graduate work (e.g., a PhD) prior to BSK acquiring full accreditation. Students from other new theological schools have had success in doing so.
