The Goals and Purposes of BSK include:

Deepening personal commitments to Jesus Christ who is the living Word of God, the focus of personal faith, and the Lord of life;

The formation of Christian character by the cultivation of virtue and commitments to ethical integrity;

Providing advanced theological studies both for laypersons and those who are called to God for the work of Christian ministries;

Understanding the Baptist tradition of religious beliefs and commitments, biblically, historically, and theologically including:

    * the authority of Scripture

    * the separation of church and state

    * the priesthood of all believers

    * local church autonomy

    * the freedom of conscience under the lordship of Christ

Cultivating intellectual and spiritual gifts, both of which are essential to Christian ministry and consistent with Jesus' call to love God with our entire being;

Theological studies that reflect scholarly discipline, an open quest for truth, ethical sensitivity and a tolerance for ambiguity and diversity in thought;

Providing resources and leadership for churches and professionals in ministry for continuing education, placement services, and training for pastors and other ministers;

Commitments to and support for evangelistic and missions outreach to the unchurched, both local and worldwide;

Appreciating the work and witness of the larger Christian community in a spirit of cooperation, respect and acceptance; and

Sensitivity to and active involvement in the major social and ethical issues believing the mission of the church includes the conversion of the lost, the quest for justice toward the oppressed, the pursuit of peace, and efforts toward greater harmony between the races, the sexes, and various ethnic and national groups.
