Mission Statement: The Baptist Seminary of Kentucky provides Christian theological education committed to spiritual depth, intellectual honesty and moral integrity. The aim of Seminary training is an extension of the Christian insight that we are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Men and women receive an outstanding theological education that includes biblical studies, spiritual formation and practical experience in ministry. Kentucky Baptists and others support this endeavor with their prayers, leadership and financial aid that will assure such training is authentically Christian, faithfully Baptist and financially affordable. BSK is committed to fulfilling its mission by:
- Deepening personal commitments to Jesus Christ who is the living Word of God, the focus of personal faith and the Lord of life;
- The formation of Christian character by the cultivation of virtue and commitment to ethical integrity;
- Providing advanced theological studies both for laypersons and those who are called to God for the work of Christian ministries;
- Understanding the Baptist tradition of religious beliefs and commitments; biblically, historically and theologically including:
- the authority of Scripture,
- the separation of church and state,
- the priesthood of all believers,
- local church autonomy,
- the freedom of conscience under the lordship of Christ;
- Cultivating intellectual and spiritual gifts, both of which are essential to Christian ministry and consistent with Jesus' call to love God with our entire being;
- Theological studies that reflect scholarly discipline, an open quest for truth, ethical sensitivity and a tolerance for ambiguity and diversity in thought;
- Providing resources and leadership for churches and professionals in ministry for continuing education, placement services and training for pastors and other ministers;
- Commitments to and support for evangelistic and missions outreach to the unchurched, both local and worldwide;
- Appreciating the work and witness of the larger Christian community in a spirit of cooperation, respect and acceptance; and
- Sensitivity to and active involvement in the major social and ethical issues believing the mission of the church includes the conversion of the lost, the quest for justice toward the oppressed, the pursuit of peace and efforts toward greater harmony between the races, the sexes and various ethnic and national groups.
